Location:- Kapinga Camp is situated in the north-west corner of the vast Busanga Plains of Kafue National Park, one of the largest national parks in Africa, while the Busanga Plains is one of Zambia's most significant wetland resources, and one of the few areas in the world that remain unspoilt by human development.

Accommodation:- Kapinga Camp is designed to be in harmony with the environment; natural products have been used as much as possible in its construction. Interiors are spacious and with only four luxury safari tents accommodating a maximum of eight guests, one can be assured of exceptional personal attention.
Tents and the main area are all shaded by a canopy of majestic trees and on raised wooden platforms to enhance the panoramic view across the plains. Lively colours and stripes characterise the main area, comprising a lounge, dining area, camp fire and small pool under a shady tree.
Guests can take part in game drives and walking safaris in and around the Plains, while night drives offer the added excitement of observing the nocturnal wonders of the area.
This camp is perfectly situated to see the antelope that make the Plains their home: lechwe, the ubiquitous puku, stately roan antelope as well as the diminutive oribi. Herds of wildebeest, zebra and buffalo are all commonly seen as well as smaller groups of Lichtenstein's hartebeest. This wealth of game is also a big attraction for predators, including wild dog, cheetah and prides of lion. A birder's special, the Böhm's Bee-eater, can be seen in the parking area of the camp!

Wildlife:- At 22 500 square kilometres, Kafue National Park is one of the largest in Africa. Its northern sector is the perfect location for our camps: remote, wild and diverse with vast tracts of pristine wilderness.
This million-hectare northern sector is drained by two major perennial rivers, the Lunga and Lufupa. Both are important tributaries of the Kafue River from which the Park takes its name. The deep, clear waters of the Lunga drain the north-eastern parts and beyond its narrow strip of lush riverine forest the landscape is patterned with broad-leafed woodland, open plains, floodplains and island thickets. The Lufupa by contrast enters the Park in the north-west and soon forms the Busanga Swamp. This papyrus-dominated wetland soon gives way to the vast floodplain of the Busanga Plains, a seasonally-inundated grassland dotted with tree islands and fringed by stands of broad-leafed miombo woodland.
Perhaps the biggest thrill is to be found in the diversity and abundance of nearly 500 recorded bird species. The Plains provide good concentrations of both Wattled and Grey Crowned Cranes, as well as floodplain specialists like Rosy-throated and Fülleborn's Longclaws and Locust Finch. The riverine woodlands of the Lunga harbour exciting species such as Black-throated Wattle-Eye, Böhm's Bee-eater and Schalow's and Ross's Turacos. Zambia's only endemic bird species, Chaplin's Barbet, is almost entirely restricted to the Kafue system and can also be found at Lunga where it favours fruiting fig trees.
Mammals are equally diverse, with 150 species seen in the Park. The Busanga Plains provide fantastic concentrations of common species such as puku, lechwe, buffalo and wildebeest, but also comparative rarities not easily viewed in many places in southern Africa such as roan, oribi and Lichtenstein's hartebeest. The predator guild on the Plains is dominated by a high density of lion, with species like cheetah and wild dog utilising those areas where lion are not present. Leopard and elephant are better viewed at Lunga where the woodlands provide both cover and foraging opportunities.

Airstrip Details
We utilise Busanga airstrip from which guests are transferred by helicopter (approx 6-7 minutes) to the camp.

Power supply:-
- Electricity is supplied by a small diesel generator which runs for a short period of the day while guests are out on activities. The energy is stored in a bank of batteries and this provides for lighting in the evening.
Fans have 24-hour power and there are plug points for charging purposes in the tents: guests need to be conservative with the use of all electrical equipment.
